Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ParentPulse ("the Service"), a family management web application available at myparentpulse.app and operated by ParentPulse LLC, a Georgia limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using ParentPulse, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are creating an account on behalf of a family, you represent that you have authority to bind all family members who will use the Service through your account.

2. Description of Services

ParentPulse is a family collaboration platform that provides the following features:

• Clip Chart: A behavioral tracking system with six tiers (Purple, Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red) that allows parents/guardians to track children's behavior throughout the week. All clips reset to the Blue tier every Monday.
• Stars and Rewards: A reward currency system where children earn stars through positive behavior and chore completion, and redeem them for family-defined rewards in the Reward Shop.
• Weekly Chores: Configurable chore assignments with one-off, repeating, and clan (whole-family) chore types, including photo proof of completion.
• Calendar: A shared family calendar for scheduling events and activities.
• Kid Requests: A feature allowing children to submit free-text requests to parents, with AI-powered event extraction.
• Parent Messages: A private messaging channel visible only to guardian/admin profiles within a family.
• Blue Ribbons: A recognition system for sending kudos messages to family members.
• North Star Goals and Trophies: Goal-setting and achievement tracking per child (premium feature).
• Pulse AI Coaching: AI-generated weekly coaching reports for parents, powered by Anthropic (premium feature).
• Kiosk Mode: A supervised device mode running the standard kid app shell on a shared tablet: children can mark chores complete, submit requests, propose goals, send Blue Ribbons, and view their own trophies and star balance. Administrative functions, settings, parent messages, and destructive actions are blocked, and exiting kiosk mode requires the parent PIN.
• Real-time Sync: Live synchronization of all family data across multiple devices.

The Service is provided as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and requires an active internet connection for all data operations.

3. Accounts and Registration

To use ParentPulse, you must create an account using a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate and complete registration information
• Maintaining the confidentiality of your password and admin PIN
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for fraudulent or abusive purposes.

4. Family Management

When you create a family in ParentPulse:

• You become a guardian/admin with full management privileges
• You may invite up to 3 additional guardians (4 total) and create up to 10 child profiles
• Additional guardians join via a unique invite code and have equivalent administrative access
• Child profiles are managed by guardians; children do not independently create accounts
• All data within a family (behavioral charts, chores, calendar, rewards, recognitions, trophies) is shared among all family members
• Parent messages are visible only to guardian/admin profiles

You are responsible for ensuring that all family members understand how the Service works and that the addition of each member is done with appropriate consent.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Free Tier

ParentPulse offers a free tier that includes the Clip Chart, calendar, partner messaging, weekly chores, stars and wallets, Reward Shop, Family Feed, Blue Ribbons, multi-guardian support, and shared tablet (kiosk) mode.

ParentPulse+ (Premium)

ParentPulse+ is available at the following prices:

• Monthly: $7.99 per month
• Yearly: $59.99 per year (equivalent to $5.00/month)

First-time subscribers receive a 30-day free trial (one free trial per family). A valid payment method is required to start the trial. Returning subscribers, and additional parents in a family whose trial has already been used, are charged immediately at the applicable rate. During a free trial you will not be charged until the trial period ends, and you may cancel at any time before the trial expires to avoid being charged.

Automatic Renewal

ParentPulse+ is an automatically renewing subscription. Unless you cancel, your plan renews at the end of each billing period and your payment method is charged again automatically:

• Monthly plan: renews every month at $7.99 per month, until cancelled.
• Yearly plan: renews every year at $59.99 per year, until cancelled.

If you started with a free trial, the first charge occurs when the trial ends and the subscription renews on that schedule from then on. Renewal continues for as long as the subscription is active; there is no fixed number of billing periods and no separate renewal notice. You can cancel at any time, including during a trial, through the Billing section in Settings; see Cancellation and Refunds below for what happens to access and refunds when you do. If a renewal payment fails, access to premium features may be suspended until the payment method is updated.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, published at stripe.com. We do not store your full payment card details; only your card brand and last four digits are retained for display purposes.

Cancellation and Refunds

You may manage your subscription or cancel at any time through the Billing section in Settings, which redirects to Stripe's billing portal. Upon cancellation through the billing portal, you will retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period, and we do not provide a prorated refund for that remaining period.

Deleting your account (see Section 11) is different: it immediately cancels any active subscription and refunds the unused, prorated portion of your current billing period to your card.

Promotional Codes

Promotional codes may be offered from time to time and may grant extended trials, discounts, or lifetime premium access. Codes are single-use and non-transferable. We reserve the right to revoke codes that are obtained fraudulently.

6. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within ParentPulse, including parent messages, chore titles, reward names, calendar events, kid requests, recognition messages, goal proposals, focus notes, and chore proof photos.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. This license terminates when you delete your content or your account.

You agree not to upload content that:

• Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Infringes on any third party's intellectual property rights
• Contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code
• Violates any applicable law or regulation

7. AI Features and Limitations

ParentPulse uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude Haiku 5.5) to power two features:

• Pulse AI Coaching Reports: Generates personalized family coaching summaries based on behavioral data, chore completion patterns, star balances, and other family metrics. Available to premium subscribers (one free preview for non-premium users).
• Kid Request Event Extraction: Automatically parses free-text kid requests to extract event details such as dates, titles, and categories.

Important limitations:

• AI-generated coaching content is informational only and does not constitute professional parenting, medical, psychological, or educational advice.
• AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. You should exercise your own judgment and not rely solely on AI-generated content for parenting decisions.
• We are not responsible for any actions taken based on AI-generated content.
• Family behavioral data (including children's first names) is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. By using AI features, you consent to this data transfer. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Children and the Service (COPPA Compliance)

ParentPulse is designed for use by families and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). Only adults (18 years or older) may create accounts. Children interact with the Service only through profiles created and managed by their parent or legal guardian.

Parental Consent

When you add a child profile to your family, you will be presented with a detailed consent notice explaining what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights. You must affirmatively acknowledge this notice by entering your admin PIN before the child profile is created. This constitutes verifiable parental consent under COPPA. For child profiles that were created before this consent system was introduced, you will be prompted to provide retroactive consent when you next visit the Settings page.

As the account-holding parent or guardian, you:

• Provide verifiable parental consent (via admin PIN) for the collection and processing of your child's information as described in our Privacy Policy
• Are responsible for supervising your child's use of the Service, including in kiosk mode and device login mode
• May review all data collected about your child within the app at any time
• May download a complete export of your child's data from Settings
• May revoke consent and delete your child's data at any time by removing the child profile from Settings, which permanently deletes all associated data: most of it right away, certain photos at our weekly photo cleanup (normally within about a week), and copies in our encrypted backups when those backups expire, up to 90 days after the data itself is deleted, as described in our Privacy Policy
• May control whether push notifications are enabled for each child profile (disabled by default)

What Children Can Do

Children may use the app in "child mode," "device login," or "kiosk mode" to mark chores complete, submit requests, propose goals, send Blue Ribbons, and view their own trophies and star balance. Children cannot access administrative functions, create events, manage rewards, view parent messages, or modify settings.

Data Minimization and Security

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the Service to children. Telemetry from child sessions is automatically anonymized. Chore proof photos are stored in a private bucket and purged weekly by an automated server-side process. Behavioral history is subject to automatic retention limits described in our Privacy Policy.

Unauthorized Data Collection

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe we have collected data about your child without your consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@myparentpulse.app.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other families' data or our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
• Attempt to circumvent Row Level Security policies or other access controls
• Share your account credentials or admin PIN with unauthorized individuals
• Use the Service to harass, bully, or harm any person

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, logos, and documentation, is owned by ParentPulse LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service without our prior written consent.

"ParentPulse," "Pulse AI," "Clip Chart," and associated logos and designs are common law trademarks of ParentPulse LLC.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account immediately and yourself, in-app, via Settings > Danger Zone > Delete My Account. You may also request account deletion by contacting us at support@myparentpulse.app.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. Upon termination:

• Your access to the Service will be revoked
• Your data will be deleted within 30 days, unless retention is required by law
• Any active subscription will be canceled; if you deleted your account yourself (in-app or by request), the unused, prorated portion of your current billing period will be refunded to your card. Subscriptions on accounts we suspend or terminate for cause are not eligible for a refund.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• The results obtained from using the Service will be accurate or reliable
• AI-generated content will be appropriate for your family's specific circumstances
• Data will not be lost due to technical failures (we recommend keeping your own records of important family information)

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PARENTPULSE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

• Your access to, use of, or inability to access or use the Service
• Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
• Any content obtained from the Service, including AI-generated content
• Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $50.00, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Jones County, Georgia or the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

15. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the breach, termination, enforcement, interpretation, or validity thereof, including the determination of the scope or applicability of this agreement to arbitrate, shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court.

Class Action Waiver: You agree that any arbitration or proceeding shall be limited to the dispute between us individually. To the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) no arbitration shall be joined with any other proceeding; (b) there is no right or authority for any dispute to be arbitrated on a class-action basis or to utilize class-action procedures; and (c) there is no right or authority for any dispute to be brought in a purported representative capacity on behalf of the general public or any other persons.

You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to support@myparentpulse.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. If you opt out, the Governing Law and jurisdiction provisions in Section 14 shall apply.

16. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a prominent notice within the Service and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
